Grid Forge TD is an incremental tower defense game.

Note: There is a demo up on steam now. The performance is a bit better there - especially at higher wave numbers.

The idea was to combine Nodebuster with the tower defense genre.

You build a maze using tetronimoes. Each tetronimo placed acts as a wall that enemies must navigate around, and also as a structure to place towers on.

Your cursor is a mobile tower that deals area of effect damage. It's more fun if you always have something to do!

For the demo I've limited it to just the first prestige / difficulty level. It does have endless mode though. High score tracking coming soon.

Any feedback very welcome. Grid Forge TD is very much under active development so feel free to suggest features or upgrades you would like to see as well as any bugs / other issues.

"Getting Started" and stuck. There is no "wall", and the 1x4  seems-to-be-wall cannot be placed anywhere.

You can place it - rotate it so that it's vertical and place it at the bottom of the middle column.

The idea was to teach you that you can place tetronimoes over the lava blocks.

I can do a few things to make that clearer though:
1. Add a hint that pops up
2. Make the hint color on the blocks even clearer when you're in a valid or invalid spot (the color is a bit subtle atm).

Thanks for taking the time to give it a go - sorry you got stuck / the tutorial wasn't clearer.

When I posted the comment, the level is 3x5 so there is nowhere to place it. Today the level becomes 7x5 so there is no problem. Not sure if you changed anything. (I defintely tried to place 1x4 on lava, but the game didn't respond)

Small nitpick - I think that enemies going from left to right would feel more intuitive.

Besides that, pretty fun, first time seeing hexagons in a skill tree.

I'll have a think about the direction of enemies.

Glad you enjoyed it! And yeah hexagons are the bestagons (and give extra edges to branch from) - although I am aware it's a little funny using them when the main game is grid based.

Ice seems to lag the game

Thanks for the feedback. Can I ask what browser you're using?

Chrome.

Before unlocking ice, i had no issue going to wave 40 with lightning towers but with ice towers, sound starts to tear, game lags.

Ok, thanks, that's very helpful. I'll let you know once I've resolved that issue.

I've had some severe lag spikes as well with lightning, but mainly when i was "spawncamping" them. When like 15 lightning towers hit the spawn point.

I liked the game very much!

Thanks! :)

When will the next update be? Love this game btw keep up the great work

Thanks for checking it out, and your kind words. Next update will be in a couple of days.

Just pushed the next update. There's a dev log with a brief summary of the changes as well.
